A NATURALLY SMART INVESTMENT

Sun farming is a cost-effective way to harness the energy from the sun and generate a sustainable income. How does it work? Well, a solar farm generates electricity which can then be fed back into the grid, generating income through your state's feed-in tariff, with 44c paid for every unit of electricity sent back into the grid. Best of all sun farming requires almost no maintenance or ongoing costs, leaving you free to go about your business while your sun farm makes you money while also providing your property with clean, renewable energy. Sun farming is also great for the environment, requiring none of the herbicides, pesticides or water usage of traditional forms of agriculture. For most of our large sun farm projects we have used dual axis tracking systems. The benefit of a tracking system is your yield is greatly increased, so you could reasonably expect to see yield increases of up to 40% compared to a conventional static array. As you can see from the diagram below with a static solar array the system turns on soon after the sun rises and the generation increases as the sun moves higher in the sky. The generation hits its peak at midday and then starts to decline as the sun starts to set. Infinity Solar tracking systems are supplied by our partner, the Kirchner Solar Group from Germany who manufacture one of the most respected dual axis tracking systems in the world - Sonnen Systeme tracking systems.  We currently import the 30m2  (5kW) and the 60m2  (10kW) trackers from Germany and have installed them in areas all across Australia. One of the first things that attracted us to the Sonnen Systeme tracking system was their incredibly efficient and accurate sun tracking. Most of the conventional tracking systems you will see in Australia today follow the sun using what is called a bright spot locater. This type of sun tracking system can be very inaccurate as the bright spot locater does not always pick up the sun in overcast or cloudy conditions. Sonnen Systeme has gone to great lengths to ensure all movement of their trackers are calculated and accurate. Sonnen use an in-built GPS and Astronomical control so at any time of the day a Sonnen Systeme tracker knows exactly where it’s pointing and exactly where the sun is. As you can see from the diagram below this means the system will start to generate at the same time as the static array but as the dual tracker moves on two planes, the solar array is always at the optimum position to maximise generation. This ensures that, no matter the weather conditions, the Sonnen tracker will be squeezing every last kW of generation out of the day.
