CASE STUDY: BRISBANE AIRPORT 60KW COMMERCIAL SOLAR PROJECT

Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) recently flicked the switch on a commercial solar power plant installed on their headquarters building at Brisbane Airport.

The 60kW project tender was won by Infinity Solar in late 2011. In-depth discussions assured that demands were met and expectations exceeded, so that in the end, Infinity Solar successfully delivered the completed project on-time, on-budget and to the satisfaction of BAC.

BAC’s motivation for incorporating solar into their HQ building
was threefold:

1. A reduction in overall demand for energy consumption from the grid

2. As a large Corporation, BAC has adopted a Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) to people and the environment

3. Research into the potential for delaying CAPEX on upgrading existing electrical supply infrastructure within the airport precinct

Being in the focus of the public, and committed to quality and safety, it was of key relevance to cooperate with a trustworthy solar company which provides not only outstanding customer service and professional technical knowledge, but also long-lasting and reliable products.

Solar energy production is being monitored closely by BAC via an SMA webbox data logger and a dedicated digital energy meter feeding live data directly into a Building Management System (BMS) display in the foyer.
